Lindley School, Huddersfield had a number of cherry trees that were coming to the end of their lives.     I was asked to carve various animals when the funds were available.   The calculation about funds was easier at the end of the financial year, so I was always carving in mid February in a howling gale and often in snow.    The school ran a wildlife club called Our Wildlife Lindley School, OWLS for short, so an owl was an obvious choice
