Eureka! – Pick/Dig/Suma

I was invited by Eureka!, the National Children's Museum, Halifax, to submit designs for their new outdoor play area sponsored by Suma Co-op. I tried some ambitious ideas that their budgets would not stretch to. In the end we agreed on some simple roundels, carved from recycled wood. The wood came out of a redundant church that was over 100 years old, hence some of the cracks on the narrative sides. Eureka! chose the subjects, which I interpreted in consultation with the wood. I was particularly happy with the 'Pick', where I used a small knot as an apple.
